Setting up your account
The first time you sign in, SiteAlert walks you through a short setup. It takes a few minutes and gets you to your first real alerts. You can skip the optional steps and come back to them later.
What the setup covers
Welcome
A quick intro to what SiteAlert does. Just click through.
Your company
Give your company a name. This is your workspace, everything you add lives here, and it's what your teammates join. We turn the name into a short web-friendly slug automatically.
Your first site
Add the website you want to watch. Enter the domain and, if you have one, a sitemap URL. We use that to find your pages. More on this in Adding a site.
Connect Search Console (optional)
Link Google Search Console so we can spot pages losing Google clicks and tie those drops to changes. You can skip this and connect it later. See Connecting Search Console.
Add an uptime monitor (optional)
Pick a page to ping so we can warn you the moment it goes down. Skippable too. See Uptime monitoring.
Done
That's it. We drop you on your dashboard and start working in the background.
Quick start: from zero to your first alert
If you only do three things, do these:
- Add your most important site. Point us at its sitemap so we find every page.
- Connect Search Console. This unlocks ranking-drop detection and makes alerts far more useful.
- Wait for the first crawl. We crawl daily and compare against the previous crawl. After the first full crawl, any change you make shows up in your timeline, and anything important lands in your Notifications.
The very first crawl builds a baseline, there's nothing to compare against yet, so you won't see changes straight away. From the next crawl onward, every difference is caught.
Coming back to skipped steps
Skipped Search Console or uptime? No problem. You'll find both later:
- Search Console and Analytics live under Integrations.
- Uptime monitors live under Uptime.
Your dashboard also shows quick links to anything you haven't set up yet.
